ERASMUS+ Adventure in Naples: DAY 1
«We landed in Naples at approximately 7:00 pm. It was raining, which made the experience feel even more exciting and special.
After checking in at our hotel, we went for dinner at a typical Neapolitan pizzeria, L’Antica, which is famous because a scene from the movie Eat, Pray, Love, starring Julia Roberts, was filmed there. It was the perfect way to start our Erasmus trip.
Early the next morning, we were ready to visit the astonishing historic centre of Naples.
First, we took the metro from Garibaldi Square, located near our hotel, to see Castel Nuovo, which was built in the 13th century. In the second half of the 15th century, it belonged to the Aragonese monarchy.
Then, we visited Plebiscito Square, which is surrounded by the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola and the Royal Palace, decorated with statues of the most important kings of Naples.
Our next stop was the Galleria Umberto I, located in front of the Teatro di San Carlo. The gallery has a stunning vaulted glass ceiling that allows natural light to come inside.
After that, we visited the Quartieri Spagnoli, a famous area where Maradona is the absolute protagonist, with plenty of shops selling Maradona souvenirs.
To end our morning, we walked along the main shopping street, Via Toledo.
After lunch, we visited CPIA Napoli Città 2, an adult education centre. There, we attended an Italian language lesson with a teacher named Florianna. She was very passionate about teaching us the differences between standard Italian and the Neapolitan dialect.
In our second lesson, we attended a botany class focused on plant life, taught by Maria Grazia, a science teacher, with the support of her assistant, Elvis Urbaez, who explained how plants grow, obtain nutrients, and reproduce.
It was very interesting to see the type of lessons offered at an adult education centre and how they engage their students.
Finally, we went back to the hotel with the feeling that we had had a thrilling and unforgettable day.More to come tomorrow!«
